Zentai is a short form for a word 'zenshin taitu', full body tights.
Zentai is also a word meaning 'whole' or 'entire' in Japanese. (全体)
Zentai suit was invented in late 60's in Japan by Marcy Anarchy. It has not been practiced as a comtemporary art form. Here in Singapore, we explore the possibility of what zentai can express.
Some of the messages that zentai may contain;
In Singapore, sexuality is one of the topic that is not preferred to be expressed. Zentai could cover this topic as it has no nudity, yet it exposes the body as if it is nude. This may gives dynamic to Singapore art.
Another example is the identity. The war happens because there're strong belief in group identity. When the belief of self-identity increases, it isolates a parson.
Zentai covers the identity of the parson which is the face. This may give question of the identity
Another example is transformation. Most people struggle to become what we aspire to be. We want to transform ourselves and be a good person or a super hero. Wearing zentai, it may give its experience.

Zentai Art Festival
Zentai Art Festival 2014 is a first art festival focused on zentai in the world.
There are 27 artists from Singapore and other countries exhibiting installation, photographs, paintings, videos, performing performance art and sound art from November 2014 to June 2015.
Our world is too depended on the surfaces. The look gives impact to the work and the personal life.
The theme of the festival is to look beyond gender, age and looks to find something real.
The fun part of sharing the zentai art is to transform ourselves into super hero that we dream in our childhood.
