Zentai Walk
We conducted Zentai Walk with 10 to 50 participants in 14 countries. It aims to make connection between artists and people who are not related to art by questioning the individuality and identity.
Under a Zentai suit, concepts such as age, gender and surface beauty are removed. The mind wants to label, categorize and analyze whatever it experiences. But that is far from the experience of wearing Zentai. A person wearing Zentai by contrast translates experience through the senses, and emotion through body language.  A group of people in Zentai in a sense merge together, enhancing cohesion and energy from the group dynamic. Perhaps this is who and what we can be - more of a community and less as separate individuals. We present an alternative to the singular pursuit of individual benefit. We highlight how the surrender of individual identity enhances cooperation and harmony.

Zentai raises questions about human identity because it covers the face and parts of the human body that are usually used to identify individuals. This aspect of Zentai challenges who we are. It removes limitations on identity, particularly psychological ones, by filtering out traditional identification markers.
A group of zentai people look like they are merging into one another as if they are one whole energy. Zentai not only takes away the identity but also the individuality. It is no longer 20 people standing together but one big energy standing. And I think this is what we really are. We are not separate from each other. We are actually just one energy. What makes us think we are different from other person is the 'identity'. Zentai reminds us to be a simple being.

The objective on this walk is to bring the art closer to the public.  Anyone can join this zentai walk by just wearing the zentai suits and it presents full scale experience to both wearer and the public who witnesses the walk.  This fun approach will bring art and art performance closer to audience.

I would like to do Zentai walk in Asia. ‘Zentai Walk’ is a program that participants wear zentai suits and walk and perform on the public road.
At each performance venue, there will be artist talk and discussions to exchange ideas.
The objective on this walk is to bring the art closer to the public.
It will consist mainly on expressions of performance art and its documentation with collaboration with local artists.
Doing Zentai art in Asia will question about the race, identity and unity of Asia.
Where race and religion is critical, covering whole body in Zentai will ask public if it is right to draw outline of the personality from the categories such as age, sex, race, nationality or religion. Perhaps those identities are creating conflicts rather than peace. Having identities might cause differences amongst people which will end up with human political conflicts.
The world is getting material oriented.  People say the world would not last long if we continue to consume the way we do now.  But I think we are not looking for a new invention that can save the world. I believe the key is to have less desires or identities.  If we could live simple, there's much less things we require materially.

I would like to share the idea of ‘unity in Asia’ though these Zentai walk performances in Asian countries.

When I see group of people wearing zentai together, I can identify female or male but nothing more. And maybe this is enough.  We could live just as male or female as we are playing too many roles in society, such as nationality, age, job, education, family..etc now. I think zentai can remind us that it is good to be ourselves that exists beyond the identities.

To me the group of zentai people looks like they are starting to marge each other as if it is one whole energy.  The zentai not only takes away the identity but also the individuality. It is no longer 20 people standing together but one big energy standing.  I think this is what we really are.  We are not separate from each other.  We are actually one energy. What makes us think different from other parson is the 'identity'.  Identifying 'my' hair, 'my' skin, and 'my' thought which is making us complicated.
